The Lethbridge Bulls went 1-3 in their weekend trek up north. The Bulls wrapped up a four-game weekend against the Fort McMurray Giants with a 4-2 loss during Western Major Baseball League play Sunday afternoon in Fort McMurray.

The loss comes after a 1-1 double-header split with the Giants Saturday and a 14-1 loss to Fort McMurray Friday night and drops the Bulls to 95 on the season.

The Giants took a 2-0 lead Sunday afternoon in the bottom of the third when Jordan Stickler scored on a passed ball and Hector Benitez came in on a Keegan Marsden sacrifice fly.

Fort McMurray added one more in the fourth inning when Joey Nicastro scored on a wild pitch for a 3-0 lead and went up 4-0 with another run in the seveth.

The Bulls cut that lead in half with pair of runs in the ninth as Brock Frentzel and Dylan Flasch scored on a single from Carter Witbeck, but the Giants were able to stop the rally to close out the win.

Witbeck’s RBI upped his total to 13 on the season.

Bulls second baseman Blake MacDonald hit for three of his team’s seven hits, going 3-for4, while Witbeck was 2-for-5.

Liam Sabiston took the loss for the Bulls, throwing five innings and giving up three runs on one hit, walking five and striking out three.

The Bulls reamain on the road Tuesday when they head to Brooks to take on the Bombers.

Lethbridge is back home Thursday when they host the Bombers at Spitz Stadium at 7:05 p.m.

The game is the first of three at home in as many nights as the teams play in a rematch Friday before the Okotoks Dawgs pay a visit Saturday night.
