Bulls down the Bombers

5-3 Lethbridge win snaps threegame skid

The Lethbridge Bulls returned home and snapped a losing streak in the process. The Bulls downed the Brooks Bombers 5-3 during Western Major Baseball League action Saturday night at Spitz Stadium.

With the win, the Bulls improve to 18-12 on the season and snap a three-game skid following two losses in Edmonton to the Prospects and a 10-8 loss to the Melville Millionair­es.

On Saturday, the Bulls had to rally from a 3-0 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fourth before adding one more in the fifth and seventh innings to round out the score.

It was the Bombers that took the early upper-hand with a trio of runs in the top of the fourth.

Ashton Roy scored on a double from Lee Thomas and the visitors added two more when Griffin Robinson doubled in David Janes and Thomas.

But the Bulls pulled even in their half of the fourth as Alex Bishop scored on an error to shortstop and Dylan Borman and Dylan Flasch came in on a double from Jesse Hilyard.

Lethbridge took their first lead of the game in the fifth inning.

Ryan Pouwells singled to centre field to lead off and scored from third on an error from the third baseman.

The Bulls aded one more in the seventh as Brett Semeniuk singled with one out and was brought in on a Dylan Borman single.

Lethbridge scattered nine hits in the win.

Semeniuk was 2-for-4 with one run scored and Hillyard was 2-for-4 with two RBI, giving him 10 on the year. His double was also his fifth of the season.

Brady Moxham earned the win for the Bulls, tossing six innings and giving up three runs on six hits, walking two and striking out seven.

Hunter Cunningham and Ben Erwin pitched the seventh and eighth innings, respective­ly, for the Bulls before Dawson Moser came on in the ninth to earn the save, allowing no runs or hits and striking out two.

The teams are in Brooks this afternoon for the rematch at 2:05 p.m.
