NIKKA YUKO JAPANESE GARDEN – EVENT VOLUNTEERS Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is looking for volunteers that are flagtrained to assist with looking after
barricades to the entry of Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden on Friday, July 14 from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. They will also require volunteers who are able to lift, in a safe manner up to 25–30 lbs, to set up, move, and take down chairs, tents and tables. This set up will take place on Thursday, July 13, then moved to a different style of seating on Friday, July 14 and takedown on Sunday, July 16. WINDY CASTLE MEDIEVAL GUILD – MEDIEVAL FAIRE VOLUNTEERS Windy Castle Medieval Guild is looking for volunteers to help out at
their Medieval Faire Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30 at Coyote Flats Pioneer Village near Picture Butte. Positions include bartenders, bartenders who can sing (Bardtenders), security, first aid personnel, ticket takers and sellers, children’s area. If there are any additional skills you are interested in sharing at the Medieval Faire, let them know in your email. A four-hour shift gets you free admission for the day and an eight-hour shift gets you admittance to both days of the Medieval Faire. UNITED WAY OF LETHBRIDGE & SOUTHWESTERN ALBERTA SOCIETY - CASINO VOLUNTEERS United Way of Lethbridge will be holding a casino on Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27 and they have various positions and shifts they are looking to fill. Positions available include chip runner, count room, cashier, banker, etc. Shifts typically run from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. or 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. Volunteers must be 18 or older and have no criminal record. Casino volunteers will receive training and meals. HELEN SCHULER NATURE CENTRE – WEED PULL VOLUNTEERS
Join the fight against invasive plant species! During Weed Pull events volunteers help identify and remove invasive plant species from Lethbridge’s natural areas in order to protect our local ecosystem. Helen Schuler Nature Center is looking for volunteers to help out on July 20 at 1 p.m. (Elizabeth Hall Wetlands Parking Lot), Aug. 17 at 5 p.m. (Botterill Bottom Park – meet at boat launch parking), and Sept. 21 at 5 p.m. (Coulee Climb Trail in Nature Reserve Park). CANADIAN BLOOD SERVICES – SUMMER VOLUNTEERS Summer volunteers are required to help spread awareness on the importance of being or becoming a
blood donor in July and August. Under the guidance of the Summer Youth Program Co-ordinator, volunteers will attend events and provide support by booking appointments, and/or signing up potential donors who require more information. Training is provided. Opportunity to stay on into the fall. Transportation is not provided — volunteers may self-drive or take public transit. LETHBRIDGE FOOD BANK – 9TH ANNUAL CARE FOR KIDS GOLF TOURNAMENT The Lethbridge Food Bank is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with their annual golf tournament on Thursday, Aug. 3. Volunteers will be sitting at one of the four “hole in one” spots to encourage and ensure the rules of the tournament are being followed. There will be other games around the golf course that will need cheering and supervision as well. Volunteers are provided with lunch, dinner and a snack ticket. Rain or shine, it is a lot of fun! THE LETHBRIDGE THERAPEUTIC RIDING ASSOCIATION THERAPEUTIC RIDING ASSISTANT The Lethbridge Therapeutic Riding Association is looking for volunteers to lead horses for therapeutic
classes, prepare horses for classes and provide emotional and physical support while riding to a person with special needs. Therapeutic Riding Assistants should have compassion and understanding for people with special needs and be comfortable working closely with horses.
