Trafficking suspect has disappeared
LAWYER HAS NO IDEA WHERE HIS CLIENT IS
A 31-year-old man arrested during a drug bust in January, then released from custody on bail, has disappeared.
Eric White Man Left was expected to be in Lethbridge provincial court Thursday, but he failed to show up and his lawyer doesn’t know where he is.
“I have completely lost contact with the accused," Lethbridge lawyer Art Larson told court.
White Man Left faces charges of drug possession, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000 and three counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
Following an investigation into drug trafficking in the downtown core, police searched an apartment building in the 1200 block of 4 Avenue South Jan. 18 and seized more than $8,000 cash, 110 fentanyl pills and a small amount of oxycodone. Police also seized a number of weapons, including a hatchet, combat knife and machete.
Six people were taken into custody, one of whom, police said, was supplying large amounts of fentanyl to drug users in the downtown core. Five of the people arrested were not charged and released shortly afterward.
White Man Left has one more chance to show up for court on Tuesday or a warrant will be issued for his arrest.
When he was released on bail Jan. 30 he was ordered to follow several conditions, including he attend court when required. He was also told to abstain from alcohol and other intoxicating substances, reside in Standoff and obey a curfew from 8 p.m to 8 a.m. every day.
