- Melissa Villeneuve LETHBRIDGE HERALD www.enmaxcentre.ca.

Legendary musician, singer and songwriter Burton Cummings, former lead singer of the iconic Canadian rock band The Guess Who, will make a stop in Lethbridge on his tour this fall.

Considered to be one of the finest voices in rock music, Cummings will perform at the Enmax Centre on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Between 1965-1975 with The Guess Who, Cummings sang, wrote or co-wrote many international hit singles such as “American Woman,” “These Eyes,” “Laughing,” “No Time,” and “Hand Me Down World.” He left the band to pursue a solo career in 1976 and earned a gold record with his debut solo single, “Stand Tall.”

Cummings continued his success with more than a dozen hit singles including “I’m Scared,” “I Will Play a Rhapsody,” “Timeless Love,” “Break It To Them Gently,” “Fine State of Affairs,” “You Saved My Soul,” and “My Own Way To Rock.”

With a dozen albums under his belt, many have gone gold or multiplatinum. His third solo album — Dream Of A Child released in 1978 — became the first quadruple platinumselling album by a Canadian artist.

He’s won numerous RPM, Juno and SOCAN awards and many other accolades for his solo work and with The Guess Who. Between 1977 and 1980, Cummings earned five Juno awards for Best Male Vocalist and Best Album. He also earned a Genie award for Best Original Song and praise for his acting in the 1982 film “Melanie.”

Cummings was named an officer of the Order of Canada in 2009, received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2011 (in addition to the star with The Guess Who in 2001), and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2016.

Born and raised in Winnipeg, Cummings still lives there most of the year but spends his winters in California.

Tickets for the concert go on sale Friday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. They can be purchased by calling 403329-7328 or online at
