• Great Canadian Plains Railway Society will present a unique event celebratin­g Canada’s 150th at Galt Historic Railway Park near Stirling, offering a opportunit­y to “Ride the Rails” July 29 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tour the station and ride the rails, cross the internatio­nal border as it was in 1890. It will also be offered Aug. 19 and 26 (weather permitting). Cost is $10 per person. Children must be accompanie­d by an adult. Bring your lunch and enjoy the picnic shelter. • The Windy Castle Medieval Faire take place July 29-30 at Coyote Flats Pioneer Village south of Picture Butte on Highway 843. Variety of events and activities including jousting, battles, archery, falconry demos, bouncy castles for children and adults, a hay bale maze, a medieval feast, puzzles, costumes, carriage ride into the coulee, games tent, children’s crafts, vendors and artisans. Faire passes available through the website at www.windy castle.com. Passes for adults $15 for one day or $25 for both; for youths 11– 17, $5 per day; children 10 and under free. After hours on July 29 there will be an evening of jousting and feasting with a seven-course meal catered by LA Chefs. Tickets are also available on the website for $75.

• Waterton United Church will continue with its summer series of guest ministers, including: July 30, Rev. Nancy Nourse from Northminst­er U.C. of Calgary. • Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on will offer Gentle Yoga Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 1-31, 9:30-10:30 a.m. at LSCO, 500 11 St. S. Perfect for those who have not practised for a while or those who enjoy soft flowing yoga movements and poses. Fee: $45 for LSCO members, $65 for nonmembers. • The ninth annual Lethbridge Food Bank-Canadian Tire Care for Kids Golf

• Interfaith Food Bank will present “Tea in the Garden” Aug. 5 from 2-4 p.m. at the Interfaith Learning Garden. Sample teas made from the herbs in the Learning Garden. • The Lethbridge Handmade Market will take place Aug. 5 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Heritage Hall at Exhibition Park. 85-plus local artisans featuring unique handmade goods from across southern Alberta. $3 admission (10 and under free); free parking. • Miners Days Historical Society of Coalhurst is hosting its annual Miners Days celebratio­n Aug. 11-12. Coalhurst Legion will host Karen’s Karaoke on Friday night along with a silent auction. • Scarlet through the Ages, a gala to recognize the significan­ce Fort Macleod and the RCMP have had on the road to Canada’s 150th anniversar­y, will be held

Aug. 19 from 4 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Fort Museum of the NWMP and First Nations Interpreti­ve Centre, 219 Jerry Potts Blvd. in Fort Macleod. The event will feature a special performanc­e of the Musical Ride, Fort Macleod’s first Sunset Ceremony led by the NWMP Commemorat­ive Associatio­n, and a live band. Guests will have their choice of roast beef and/or a buffalo stew for dinner as well as access to a cash bar. Guests are encouraged to wear Victorian/Edwardian clothing. • The inaugural Lethbridge Lightning Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 26 starting at 1 p.m. at Picture Butte Golf and Winter Club. Entry fee $125 for individual­s, $500 for team of four. Featuring 18 holes of golf (Texas Scramble format), silent auction and steak dinner. $1,000 first-place team prize, $600 for second place, $400 for third place. • The Lethbridge Hockey Hounds,a volunteer organizati­on, is looking for new members for the upcoming Lethbridge Hurricanes hockey season. The Hockey Hounds support hockey in Lethbridge and district, fund scholarshi­ps and contribute to the Lethbridge Hurricanes Players Education Fund from the sale of 50/50 tickets at Hurricanes home games. Options include everything from Character Animation youth camp to the Totally Dance Fusion camp to Culinary Boot Camps that makes kids comfortabl­e in the kitchen; a Renewable Energy youth camp to the Totally U G!rl summer camp for teens and tweens; to a large selection of athletic camps run by the Lethbridge College Kodiaks and the Alberta Sport Developmen­t Centre Southwest; and much more. There is also a separate Health Sciences Career Academy for high school students interested in a career in health care.
