College hosting family orientation
Students and their families have a chance to get a head start on the new school year as Lethbridge College hosts its fall-semester Family Orientation session today. Beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the food court, the information session is designed for parents, spouses and other family members of students who are coming to the college in the fall. Education is a team effort, and family orientation presents advice on how to support the student through their educational journey.
“Family orientation provides information and guidance to families as their student begins and moves through their postsecondary career,” said Shelley Carter-Rose, Director of Student Services. “A strong support system is a critical part of a student’s success and we hope to enable that success by outlining our services to learners and their families.”
Family members attending the orientation session will receive campus and residence tours to familiarize themselves with Lethbridge College’s campus services, and also receive an overview of how the academic system works both in and out of the classroom.
Students new to the college will attend a meet and greet with the Lethbridge College Student Association while their family attends the orientation session. A highlight of family orientation is the student perspective which allows participants to hear from a current Lethbridge College student about their real experiences.
