Horns men’s soccer at home

- LETHBRIDGE HERALD

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns men’s soccer is back at home this weekend and looking to get back in the win column.

After an 0-2 West Coast swing last weekend, the Pronghorns hit the University of Lethbridge pitch today and Sunday during Canada West regular season action.

The Pronghorns (1-5-2) play host to the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades today at 2:15 p.m. and are back at the U of L Stadium at the same time Sunday as the UNBC Timberwolves roll into town.

After dropping both games last weekend to the Trinity Western Spartans in Langley and the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack in Kamloops the Horns head into the back half of their schedule in need of some wins, currently sitting one win back of the final playoff spot in the Prairie Division behind the Mount Royal Cougars and Calgary Dinos, both who hold two games in hand on the Pronghorns.

Offensively, the trio of Stephen Primeau, Dom Point du Jour and Ellis Davies have supplied most of the Lethbridge offence. Primeau leads the Pronghorns with one goal and three assists, while Point du Jour and Davies lead the team in goals with two each.

Entering this week, the Cascades (1-4-1) are on a three-game losing streak.

The Pronghorns and Cascades haven’t faced each other since 2013, when the Cascades upended the Pronghorns 4-1 in Abbotsford.

Sunday’s game is only the third game ever between the Pronghorns and Timberwolves with each team winning on the other’s home field.

The Pronghorns beat the Timberwolves in Prince George, 1-0 on Sept. 30, 2012. The Timberwolves won the next season, beating the Pronghorns 2-1.
