Cardston Cougars run to 3-0
The Cardston Cougars improved to 3-0 during Southern Alberta High School Football League action on the weekend.
The Cougars downed the Winston Churchill Bulldogs 55-0 during SAHSFL Division A play Friday night in Cardston.
The Cougars led 35-0 at the half in the win that keeps the Cougars ranked second in the Football Alberta Tier III division.
Cardston quarterback Ty Schaffer threw four touchowns, while Rhett Nish threw for two.
Taylor Cook and Ty Lewis each had two touchdowns for Cardston and Cook added a twopoint convert.
Mikhail Moojalsky, Justin Mackenzie, Taylor Barfuss and Chase Shipley also hit for majors for the Cougars.
Austen Olsen added five converts.
Lewis was the Cougars top receiver in the win, while Mackenzie was the top tackler to go along with one fumble.
Cook led Cardston in rushing.
The Cougars now go for the SAHSFL Division A crown as they host the LCI Rams (2-1) Friday at 8 p.m. in Cardston.
Three other games are on the schedule Friday as the Chinook Coyotes (0-2) head to Pincher Creek to take on the Dragons (0-2) in Division B play.
In Division A action, the Catholic Central Cougars (1-2) head to Raymond to take on the Comets (2-1) at 7 p.m., while in interlocking play, the Bulldogs are in Taber to face W.R. Myers Rebels (21).
