Canes vs. Tigers:

The Lethbridge Hurricanes welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers tonight at 6:00pm at the ENMAX Centre. Tonight will be the third of seven meetings between the ‘Canes and Tigers this season as they began the year with a home-and-home split with the home team winning both games.

Canada Calls:

It was announced this past week that Hurricanes 16-yearold forward Dylan Cozens was named as one of 66-players that will represent Canada at the upcoming World Under-17 Hockey Challenge beginning November 5th in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, British Columbia. It’s the sixth straight year a ‘Cane will be at the tournament after Calen Addison and Josh Tarzwell attended last year. Hurricanes Assistant Coach Jeff Hansen and Video Coach Andrew Doty will also represent Canada in Video Coach roles.

Stuey:

The WHL, along with the CHL, announced this week that Stuart Skinner will be one of two goaltenders to suit up for Team WHL in the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series in early November. Skinner will join fellow Edmonton-born goaltender Carter Hart as the two that will attend. It is the second straight year a ‘Cane will play in the Series after Giorgio Estephan was named to the team last year.

Special Teams:

Entering this weekend, the Hurricanes special teams have been outstanding. Going into Friday’s play, the ‘Canes owned the best power play in the WHL converting at 36.1% (13/36). While the Hurricanes also boasted the best penalty kill in the WHL killing at 85.7% (30/35).

Troubles in Paradise?:

It was announced the week before last that overage forward Zach Fischer had left the Medicine Hat Tigers and had requested a trade. That’s a big loss for the Tigers as Fischer had 34 goals last season. Factor that in with the loss of Mason Shaw with a potential season-ending ACL tear, that’s two big hits.

Familiar Face:

Watch the Tigers number 36 tonight as that is former Hurricanes forward Jaeger White. The now 19-year-old forward didn’t play in the WHL last year and was signed by the Tigers. He appeared in 68 games over parts of three seasons with the ‘Canes totalling 19 points (5g-14a). He is the step-son of Tigers GM and Head Coach Shaun Clouston.

Next Home Game:

The Hurricanes will be back at the ENMAX Centre on Sunday, October 22nd when they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers at 6:00pm. Tickets are available online, by calling 403329-SEAT (7328) or by visiting the ENMAX Centre Ticket Centre.
