Local film producer has high hopes for projects

A Lethbridge-based film producer hopes southern Albertans will buy into two movie projects she is working on.

Gianna Isabella Magliocco, known as Gianna Isabella, hosted an information luncheon at the Lethbridge Lodge on Tuesday to bring awareness of the productions through her new company, Gate 67 Films.

The two projects are set to begin next year. “Picture A,” which is a winter film, will be filmed in upstate New York beginning in January. This film is three-quarters funded from a single source, however, Isabella hoped to generate investment interest for the last quarter from southern Albertans.

“Picture B” is fully funded and will begin filming September 2018 in Ireland.

Isabella requested the titles and plots of the two films not be revealed, however, she did discuss both in detail at the luncheon.

“Gianna Isabella has some of the industry’s best casting and support staff already on board and is very confident the scripts will guarantee success for both pictures,” it stated in a press release. While Gate 67 Films is still a very new company, they anticipate they will be able to fully fund future movie projects within a few years.

This isn’t her first foray into film production. Isabella has moved from supporting roles in production to producer. Her film credits include work on “The Man from the Diner” (2017), “The Revenant” (2015), and “Interstellar” (2014).

This year Isabella was hired by Disney to produce special effects for “A Wrinkle in Time,” which is set for release in March 2018.
