• Lethbridge and District Horticultural Society will host a presentation Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Lethbridge Public Library (lower level Theatre Gallery), 810 5 Ave. S., featuring John Bain, who will speak on “the modern herbarium.” Herbaria are collections of dried, pressed plants. Bain will discuss uses of herbaria over the centuries and the history of the University of Lethbridge herbarium.
• University of Lethbridge will present “Nightmare on Shred Street2: Data’s Revenge” Oct. 23 from 8 a.m.noon in the bus loading zone to the west of the U of L’s 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness, offering the public safe disposal of personal files to help prevent identity theft. The free event will offer onsite shredding of personal documents, hard drive degaussing and e-waste recycling. • Free outdoor fit camp, for all ages and all abilities, runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at two locations in the city. The board will present draft framework policies to its membership ... statements which will guide the association - its community role and activities — for some time to come. The board will also highlight the association’s 2016-17-year achievements and hold its annual election for its Board of Directors. • The German Canadian Club of Lethbridge will host a fundraiser for the victims of the Kenow Wildfire Oct. 27 at 902 6 St. N. Dance and silent auction, live music by Blue Steel.
