• Are you interested in writing? The River Bottom Writers invite you to join them the second and fourth Thursday of every month at 6:45 p.m. in the Richardson Oilseed Room at Lethbridge College for a session of informal writing practice. • Lethbridge Symphony will present “Extra A - Canada’s 150th” Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at La Cité des Prairies, 2104 6 Ave. S., featuring the Musaeus string quartet and guest Graeme Roset, piano. The program will feature the world premiere of Lethbridge-born composer Shaun Bellamy’s String Quartet, alongside works by Canadian luminaries such as Ernest Macmillan, Srul Irving Glick, and Musaeus’ own Mark Rodgers. Capping off the evening is Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, a seminal piece in the genre. Everyone is welcome to cheer on the contestants. • Renowned photographer Rick Andrews will be the guest speaker at the Annual General Meeting of the Mountain Bluebird Trails Conservation Society, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre. Andrews will show numerous pictures he has taken and explain how he was able to capture the images. Information on bluebirds and the MBT trails and boxes throughout southern Alberta will also be presented. The meeting is free of charge to the public. • University of Lethbridge will present Crossing Boundaries Symposium: Art, Technology, and Identity, Oct. 28, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., W570, Recital Hall, University Theatre Lobby and Atrium, University Hall. Organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts, the symposium is designed to showcase the diversity and cross-disciplinary nature of the professional creative world and to spur discussion about art, technology and identity.
