High school football awards handed out

Mikhail Moojalsky of Cardston and Nic Harder of Claresholm Willow Creek Composite were named most valuable players in Division A and Division B respective­ly as the Southern Alberta High School Football League named its individual award winners on Monday night.

Moojalsky anchored a strong Cardston defence at linebacker as the Cougars won the Division A title while Harder was a standout receiver as the Willow Creek Cobras captured the Division B crown.

Most outstandin­g player and allstar awards were also presented at each position.

In Division A, most outstandin­g awards went to: punter, Kai Sampson, Catholic Central; kicker, Will Hughes, CCH; quarterbac­k, John Evans, LCI; running back, Taylor Cook, Cardston; receiver, Ty Lewis, Cardston; offensive line, Kalin Betts, LCI; defensive back, Jayce Nelson, Cardston; linebacker, Mikhail Moojalsky, Cardston; and defensive lineman, Taylor Cook, Cardston.

In Division B, most outstandin­g awards were presented to: punter, Preston Toth, Willow Creek; kicker, Cole Deighton, Chinook; quarterbac­k, Robbie Hoffman, Willow Creek; running back, Ethan Perry, Willow Creek; receiver, Brett Andrus, Taber W.R. Myers; offensive line, Ashton Werewka, W.R. Myers; defensive back, Brett Andrus, W.R. Myers; linebacker, Aidan Pinkerton, Willow Creek; and defensive line, Jarrid Baxter, Willow Creek.
