MATCHING PETS WITH PEOPLE

-

This public service feature runs each Saturday in the Lethbridge Herald.

Just as the name “Tiny” is given to the biggest guy around, and “Speedy” to the slowest of the slow, so, too, there is Twitch. This silver-grey fellow, about a year old, certainly isn’t the nervous sort. It’s true that he was a stray before being rescued, and a little wary of people, but after a few weeks in his foster home, he was starting to act as if he’d always been there. Gone were the days when he had to bolt his food so no one else ate it; now, he eats confidently, with good manners. Twitch wasted no time learning to play again. It’s a favourite activity — and active he is: you should see him jump! And exploring every corner and crevice is always fun, too. But, really, it’s people who matter most to this fellow. He loves his humans and the cuddles they give, and is slowly seeing that the life of a lap-cat is pretty good. Would you like to meet this cheerful youngster? Call PAW at 403-328-6700 or fill out an online inquiry at

www.pawsociety.com. Let Twitch show you that his name should really be … Happy. This year’s PAW Society Bake Sale and Santa PAW’s Party will be held at the Fish & Game Hut (9 Avenue and 10 Street South) on Nov. 25. Baking is appreciated! See website for more information.

Irish Cream is a little beauty who was found in Lethbridge’s industrial area and brought to the Humane Society in the fall of 2017. She’s a little shy still and doesn’t always want to venture far from her kennel. Irish is becoming friendlier by the day, however, and has demonstrated a lovely purr and a cuddly disposition with the volunteers that she knows best. She has started to nuzzle people’s hands and ask for attention. Irish has enchanting green eyes and she’s bound to steal someone’s heart and become the centre of attention in her forever home!

If you are interested in meeting Irish Cream, you can visit her at the Lethbridge Humane Society (2920 16 Ave. N. or call 403320-8991). To view other Haven pets, go to

This adorable, little guy is Calvin. He is approximately seven weeks old and such a little purring machine. He was living under a shed in a rural town close to Lethbridge and we are very thankful that someone was kind enough to take him in. We recently found out that he has at least one sibiling and we are hoping the poor little thing will be caught soon. Calvin has been dewormed and vaccinated and is ready to pounce his way into someone’s heart and home. Call Linda (403-381-9269) or Sam (403-382-0977) of Purrfect Endings Rescue for more information about Calvin. Recently, some of our animals have needed medical care and at least six cats require dentals. Our bill at Green Acres Animal Hospital is very high and we are in desperate need of donations. No amount is too small. We are so grateful to those individuals who have already donated. Please help us help those with no choice and no voice.

Lady came into rescue after her owner was no longer able to care for her. She loves to cuddle on your lap, play with her toys and gets along with other cats. She is two years old and is in excellent health. She is indeed a lady and very refined. If you would like information about Lady, please message us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ lastchancecatranch. You can also read more about us by visiting our website at www.thelastchancecatranch.com. You can also get more information about us and other cats by coming to our Adoption and Craft event at Centre Village Mall Nov. 18 and Meet your Maker at the Royal Canadian Legion on Nov. 25. Thank you to everyone who suppors our rescue efforts. We could not do what we do without your support.
