-

A 29-year-old man is facing charges in relation to the theft of three poppy boxes in Lethbridge.

Police say the thefts occurred between Nov. 5 and last Thursday at the Tim Hortons along the 2600 block of Scenic Drive North and 400 block of Scenic Drive South, and the 7-Eleven along the 2600 block of Scenic Drive North.

LPS said, in a release Monday, that surveillance images of the suspect were obtained. Then on Sunday, an officer observed a man walking downtown who matched the description.

The man fled from police, but was later located at the shelter where he was arrested without incident. LPS say an investigation is ongoing in relation to additional thefts and further charges.

It is unknown how much money the boxes contained.

Brendon Lyndon Plaited Hair, 29, is charged with three counts of theft under $5,000. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 29.
