Midget Canes move into first

The Lethbridge Midget AAA Hurricanes tacked on another pair of wins on the weekend, outscoring their opponents 11-1 in the process.

The Canes blanked the Edmonton MLAC Beverly Optimists 4-0 during Alberta Midget Hockey League play Saturday and wrapped up the road trip Sunday with a 7-1 decision over the Airdrie CFR Bisons on Sunday.

With the wins the Hurricanes improve to 12-1-2 and move into first place in the Chrysler Division, three points up on the Calgary Buffaloes (11-2-1).

In Saturday’s win, Carl Tetachuk stopped all nine shots he faced to record the shutout and Michael Horon scored twice and added an assist.

Zack Stringer and Kadyn Chabot added the other Lethbridge goals.

Stringer added two more goals in Sunday’s win in Airdrie and added an assist.

Keegan McDowell, Chandler Aleman, Ridly Greig, Daniel Anton and Carson Dyck added singles for the Hurricanes.

McDowell and Dyck each added an assist for a twopoint afternoon.

Ronan Seeley, Tayler Miller and Horon each had two helpers. Byron Fancy made 12 saves in the win. The Hurricanes are back home Saturday when the Grande Prairie Grande Peace Ernies Sports Storm pay a visit to Nicholas Sheran Arena at 4:15 p.m.
