Mid­get Canes move into first

The Lethbridge Mid­get AAA Hur­ri­canes tacked on an­other pair of wins on the week­end, outscor­ing their op­po­nents 11-1 in the process.

The Canes blanked the Ed­mon­ton MLAC Bev­erly Op­ti­mists 4-0 dur­ing Al­berta Mid­get Hockey League play Satur­day and wrapped up the road trip Sun­day with a 7-1 de­ci­sion over the Air­drie CFR Bisons on Sun­day.

With the wins the Hur­ri­canes im­prove to 12-1-2 and move into first place in the Chrysler Di­vi­sion, three points up on the Cal­gary Buf­faloes (11-2-1).

In Satur­day’s win, Carl Te­tachuk stopped all nine shots he faced to record the shutout and Michael Horon scored twice and added an as­sist.

Zack Stringer and Ka­dyn Chabot added the other Lethbridge goals.

Stringer added two more goals in Sun­day’s win in Air­drie and added an as­sist.

Keegan McDow­ell, Chan­dler Ale­man, Ridly Greig, Daniel An­ton and Car­son Dyck added sin­gles for the Hur­ri­canes.

McDow­ell and Dyck each added an as­sist for a two­point af­ter­noon.

Ro­nan See­ley, Tayler Miller and Horon each had two helpers. By­ron Fancy made 12 saves in the win. The Hur­ri­canes are back home Satur­day when the Grande Prairie Grande Peace Ernies Sports Storm pay a visit to Ni­cholas Sheran Arena at 4:15 p.m.
