The party is well under way with new style, technology and a similar theme: utility vehicles

- Tom Jensen WHEELBASE MEDIA

For automotive enthusiast, the fall is the best time of the year because of the new-vehicle debuts. Nowadays, automakers stage their introductions over several months, but most still arrive this time of year. With that in mind, here are a dozen of the most significant all-new cars and light-duty trucks for the 2018 model year.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Italian style and swagger wrapped in a practical tallwagon shape, the all-new Stelvio is available in several trim levels, including the hair-chested 505-horsepower Quadrifoglio high-performance version.

Audi A5/S5 Sportback

With the big A7 sedan already a success, Audi wisely stuck to the same formula for the smaller four-door A5 Sportback. The A5, like most Audis, is a true driver’s car and the Sportback configuration makes the back seat practical for full-sized adults. Spirited drivers will want to opt for the S5 Sportback and its 354-horsepower V-6.

Lincoln Navigator

After years of lagging way behind the Cadillac Escalade,

Toyota Camry

The Camry and Honda Accord, the perennial big dogs in the midsize sedan market, are all new this year and both vastly improved. The Camry has always been practical and dependable. Now, it looks hot and is fun to drive, too.

Volvo XC 60

The major redesign of Volvo’s popular XC 60 is brilliant, with features such as Pilot Assist, which allows for semi-autonomous driving. There’s also a 360-degree camera and a panoramic moonroof.
