Edmonton restored the two-goal lead on the power play when Nick Bowman got his stick on a point shot from Will Warm to make it 3-1 Oil Kings with 3:55 left in the first.
The Hurricanes used a power play of their own to pull within one before the first intermission when defenceman Igor Merezhko scored off the right wing.
The hosts then struck three times in the opening 9:41 of the second to seize the upper hand.

After a scoreless first half of the third, the Oil Kings forced overtime when Soustal’s shot off the left wing found its way past Skinner with 8:19 remaining to knot things up at 5-5.
The Hurricanes nearly took a 6-5 lead with a little over four minutes to go when Jordy Bellerive had a pointblank chance in front of the Edmonton goal, but was turned aside by Child.
