FAMILY CENTRE SOCIETY – SANTA’S ELVES VOLUNTEERS
Family Centre has found a Santa, now they are looking for cheery volunteers who are in the Christmas spirit to dress up as Santa’s Elves and help him out with picture taking and seasonal chaos control. Full of Elf cheer, volunteers will take photos, print photos, stuff photos in cards and share information about Family Centre Programs. ARCHES LETHBRIDGE – CASINO VOLUNTEERS Arches Lethbridge is looking for volunteers to help them out with
their casino on Dec. 21, 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. and Dec. 22, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Volunteers will perform usual casino duties during their shift and be provided with a meal. DAYS FOR GIRLS - FEMININE HYGIENE KIT ASSEMBLY Days for Girls Lethbridge is always looking for volunteers to assist with the cutting, sewing and packing of washable feminine hygiene kits for girls and women in need. Volunteers may prepare materials at any time in preparation for sewing days which are the first Monday of the Month from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Lethbridge First Baptist Church. Please note that if a particular Monday is a holiday then it will be the second Monday of the month. Volunteers will need to be able to pay careful attention to detail for making patterns, cutting fabric, stitching, surging and sewing. PARKS CANADA WATERTON LAKES NATIONAL PARK–ANNUAL WATERTON CHRISTMAS BIRD COUNT
Waterton Lakes will be holding their annual Christmas Bird Count on Friday, Dec. 15. Come out and enjoy an hour or two of counting birds in your favourite area of the park, share sightings with fellow enthusiasts and take in the outdoors at Waterton National Park. Volunteers will selfregister at the Waterton Fire Hall on the morning of Dec. 15 (or the evening before). UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE PRONGHORNS – OPERATION RED NOSE VOLUNTEERS
Operation Red Nose is in its 23rd year in Lethbridge. The annual holiday season safe drive-home service kicked off Nov. 24. Not only is Operation Red Nose a major fundraiser for the Pronghorns but it is a unique program dedicated to the fight against impaired driving. During the Christmas holiday season, individuals who have been drinking or who do not feel fit to drive can be driven home in their own vehicle by a team of Red Nose volunteers. There is no fee for the service, but donations are accepted. Volunteers travel in teams; escort driver drives volunteers to pick up clients and the designated driver drives the clients’ vehicle with the client and a navigator volunteer who fills out the paper work. Help Lethbridge Family Services (LFS) and 1st Choice Savings and Credit Union make the holiday season a little brighter and full of hope for over 2,100 children and youth in need this year by joining the 25th Annual Angel Tree Christmas Campaign. West Wind Gymnastics Club will be holding their yearly foam pit cleaning on Dec. 30 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and could use your help. They are looking for about 20 people to assist with emptying the foam pit of pieces of foam, shop vac the floor and wipe down the walls, fix/repair where necessary and fill the pit back up. All equipment and cleaning supplies are provided as well as drinks and snacks. This is a great opportunity for groups or families (must be 16 or older). VOLUNTEER LETHBRIDGE – HOLIDAY GIFT WRAPPER OR CASHIER
Until Dec. 24, Volunteer Lethbridge will be providing Gift Wrapping Services at Park Place Shopping Centre. This program hopes to increase holiday happiness by taking out the tedious task of gift wrapping for shoppers by providing this service and the proceeds go to a great cause. The kiosk is open during the mall’s holiday hours and scheduling is flexible. Shifts vary from 3-7 hours and depend on volunteer availability but a commitment to the shift is essential for team success. Volunteer opportunities include wrapping gifts in a professional manner, customer service, cashier and coat/parcel check.
