• University of Lethbridge will present the ARRTI Speaker Series, featuring Dr. Richard Fahlman, Dec. 13 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at B650, University Hall. Fahlman, a biochemistry professor at the University of Alberta, will talk about his research into new mechanisms of gene expression that reveal details about how tumours are so different than their original tissue and how this could help develop new ways of combatting cancer. Everyone is welcome; coffee and snacks provided.
• Innovation Collective will hold its next Fireside Chat Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Casa, 230 8 St. S., featuring Lethbridge’s Mark Vella, an entrepreneur and master of business development, who will share his stories of success, failure and everything in between. Free snacks and soft drinks provided. Innovation Collective, a non-religious, non-political organization focused on changing the future of work, holds fireside chats the second Wednesday of each month.
• Native New Health, a DVD program series designed for Native people by Native people, continues Dec. 13 from 7-9 p.m. at 408 13 St. N. Each episode has been designed to generate discussion and to assist the viewer in making positive lifestyle choices. Kevin Maclean, neighbourhood heritage enthusiast, will help you discover how to research your home and the neighbourhood around it. Featuring hundreds of Christmas nativities on indoor display, interactive children’s room with dress-up nativity, puzzles and more. • YWCA Lethbridge & District’s annual “Stockings of Hope” campaign is now underway, continuing until Dec. 15. Stockings are hung on the fireplace in the YWCA lobby. Included on each stocking is a wish-list for a particular woman, as well as information (gender, age, size) for any of her children who may be with her. Residents and businesses can stop by the YWCA at 604 8 St. S. to “adopt” a stocking. They purchase some or all of the gifts on the wish-list, then return the gifts, unwrapped, to the YWCA on or before

• Galt Museum’s Saturdays at 1:00 hands-on history program for families continues Dec. 16 from 1-2 p.m. with “Pasta & Seed Art.” Make a beautiful piece of art using dried pasta and seeds. You’ll also find out about the history of pasta and infamous Italian immigrant Emilio Picariello, whose story is explored in our special exhibit. Admission fees apply (includes exhibit access); free to annual pass holders. • College Drive Community Church will present “The Story,” a Glee-style musical performance, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at 2710 College Drive S. • MADD Lethbridge & Area is hosting Christmas MADDness Dec. 16 from 1-3 p.m. at Milestone Mazda, 3530 4 Ave. S. There will be face painting, horse and wagon rides, photos with Santa, gift wrapping, colouring contest, treats and much more. All proceeds will go to support MADD Lethbridge & Area. • The Last Chance Cat Ranch will have
a table at Meet Your Maker Dec. 16 from noon-5 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion on Mayor Magrath Drive South. Featuring an assortment of handmade crafts and pet items for sale to help with fundraising to pay off the LCCR’s vet bills. All revenue goes to the care of the cats for the volunteer-operated charity. • Shaughnessy Community Centre will hold its monthly Classic Country Jam Session Dec. 17 at 1 p.m., with supper to follow at 5 p.m. (cost $10). • The Rotary Club of Raymond will present the Annual Rotary Community Carole Festival Dec. 17 at the Raymond Cultural Hall, 200 West and Church Avenue. Raymond High School Band Prelude at 6 p.m., opening choir at 6:30 p.m. A variety of school, community and church choirs will perform. Collecting at the door non-perishable food items for the Standoff Food Bank and gently used children’s and youth books for the Kainai Public Library and community. • The annual Lethbridge Christmas Bird Count will take place Dec. 17.
