-

A Lethbridge man is facing charges from Taber Police following an alleged use of stolen debit and credit cards.

On Monday, the Taber Police Service received a report of a wallet being stolen from an unlocked vehicle sometime overnight in the 6300 block of 63 Avenue. The victim reported that their wallet contained debit and credit cards that had been used numerous times since being stolen.

Police say the subsequent investigation revealed the suspect had allegedly fraudulently used the stolen debit and credit cards at various businesses where he made purchases and cash withdrawals totalling over $1,700.

The alleged suspect was soon after identified by police as being a 35-yearold Lethbridge man and a warrant was obtained for his arrest.

On Tuesday, Taber Police Service members located the man and he was arrested without incident. At the time of his arrest, the man was found in possession of a large amount of Canadian cash and prepaid Visa credit cards.

Mason Cranston has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, fraud under $5,000 and unlawful use of a credit card.

Cranston was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody for a judicial interim release hearing in Lethbridge provincial court on Thursday.
