Y WCA Lethbridge & District: A women’s shelter and so much more.

YWCA Lethbridge & District has been serving Lethbridge and the surroundin­g communitie­s since 1949. The organizati­on supports the enhancemen­t of women’s lives and the communitie­s they live in with 30+ programs and services that fall under one of five areas of focus:

Domestic & Sexual Violence,

which includes YWCA Harbour House Women’s Emergency Shelter and YWCA Amethyst Project, which provides an important third option for victims of sexual violence.

Trauma & Crisis Prevention/ Interventi­on,

including Safe Visitation and Project Child Recovery, a support group for children ages 6-17 who have experience­d trauma.

Poverty, Housing & Homelessne­ss,

which covers support for women transition­ing out of Harbour House and Hestia Homes, a program that teaches independen­t living skills for youth ages 19-24 who are (or are at risk of becoming) homeless.

• Leadership & Empowermen­t,

including Girl Space, youth conference­s, and the Young Women’s Leadership Council.

• Advocacy & Awareness

the voice for the social and economic well-being of women with government, the media and the community at large.
