Film festival tickets popular

-

Four of the Banff Mountain Film Festival screenings at the downtown library are sold out. But organizers report there are still tickets available for two presentations, next Thursday and Saturday.

And last-minute seats may become available for others, they add.

Selections from last fall’s Banff festival will be shown Monday to Friday, 7 p.m. The final screening will be Saturday at 2 p.m.

“This year’s program celebrates the mountain landscape by showing some of the best films selected from 36 countries,” says festival organizer Sheila Braund.

“Mountaineering, skiing, climbing, biking and surfing films inspire us to push our limits, while films about the environment, exploration and culture take us to new places. Braund says viewers will find those places “filled with joy, peace and respect for our wild landscapes.”

Details of the three film lineups — each shown twice through the week — are available online at

But tickets are available only in person, at the library’s customer service desk. They’re priced at $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and children 12 and under.

In addition to the Thursday and Saturday screenings, officials say tickets may become available for others because seats reserved for major sponsors are released for sale if they’re not picked up at least five days before the ticket date.
