Deeds Well Done aids charities

MR MIKES program contributes $18,000 to Canadian charities

MR MIKES Steakhouse Casual has donated more than $18,000 to local registered charities across Canada as part of the franchise’s fifth-annual Deeds Well Done program.

Deeds Well Done, which ran from Nov. 20 to Dec. 31 in MR MIKES’ 37 markets including Lethbridge, encouraged restaurant guests to showcase the local charities committed to making communities a better place.

Guests nominated 1,364 registered charities throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario and one charity from each market was chosen to receive a $500 donation on behalf of MR MIKES.

In Lethbridge, the charity chosen to receive a donation was UR Amazing Ministries, a Lethbridge-based organization which provides programs and services to help children and youth ages 5-18 to overcome barriers that prohibit them from becoming successful members of their community. One of the programs is Amazing Kids, an after-school program for youths.

“MR MIKES believes in supporting charitable organizations in the communities where we live and work, and Deeds Well Done allows us to highlight the important work each of these charities does throughout the year,” said Mike Cordoba, CEO, RAMMP Hospitality Brands Inc., the parent company behind MR MIKES. “Deeds Well Done encourages everyone to remember what’s important during the holiday season and give back to those who are making a difference in their communities.”

Throughout the campaign, each location was encouraged to select a local charity to support through an initiative led by the restaurant. Community initiatives during the 2017 program included MR MIKES Langford hosting a stuffed animal drive for the BC Children’s Hospital, MR MIKES Martensville collecting food donations for the Martensville Free Pantry, MR MIKES Saskatoon collecting food donations for the Saskatoon Food Bank and MR MIKES Grande Prairie selling items to raise money for Purple With A Purpose to support those living with pancreatic cancer.

“We are proud to see such an outpouring of support for Deeds Well Done from each community,” said Mike Cordoba. “The donations from all Deeds Well Done initiatives remain in their respective communities to ensure those in need can receive the support they require.”

MR MIKES has donated $60,000 in support of Deeds Well Done over the past five years.
