The funding request includes $150,000 cash and $100,000 inkind from the Major Community Event Grant Budget.

The Alberta Summer Games hosts 3,500 athletes, coaches, and technical officials over four days in late July. Lethbridge has not hosted the games since 2012.

A public hearing on the adoption of the London Road Area Redevelopment Plan is scheduled for today, submitted by Ross Kilgour, Community Planner. The plan is intended to co-ordinate neighbourhood conservation and set policies for future redevelopment in the area.

A second public hearing has been set to address a proposed amendment to the Land Use Bylaw submitted by Jeff Greene, Director of Planning and Development. The amendment is to revise the current definition of “Manufacturing General” in the Land Use Bylaw to allow for a training facility to be developed in the same industrial districts where “Manufacturing, General” is already an allowable land use.

Council could pass second and final readings of these bylaws following their respective public hearings.

Today’s regular meeting of City Council takes place in council chambers in City Hall and begins at 1 p.m. Council meetings are open to the public.
