Midget 15 Canes win two more in race for first place in the South

The Lethbridge midget AAA Headwater 15's Hurricanes put up four points last weekend to remain in the hunt for top spot in the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League South Division.

The Canes went 2-0 last weekend thanks to 6-3 and 8-0 wins over the Calgary CRAA Royals Gold Friday and the Calgary NWCAA Bruins Sunday, respective­ly.

With the wins, the Hurricanes improve to 18-3-2, good for second place in the AMMHL South Division and three points behind the South and leaguelead­ing Rockyview Raiders (202-1).

On Friday in Calgary against the Royals Gold, Easton Weasel Head and Tristan Kimmen each scored twice and Derrien Tonin and Tristan Miller each added one for the Hurricanes.

Brayden Peters stopped 30 of 33 shots in net for the victory.

On Sunday, also in Calgary, Cole Tisdale stopped all 23 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season.

Brogan Booth scored twice for Lethbridge and added two assists, while Weasel Head also struck for a pair.

Dawson Leroux, Sean Burns, D.J. Tonin and Kimmen each scored once for the Hurricanes.

Kimmen added three assists for a four-point afternoon and Leroux and Burns each added an assist for two points.

Brayden Kapty added three helpers for Lethbridge.

The Hurricanes are back in action today as they head to Red Deer to face the North Star Chiefs.

They complete the road trip Sunday in Cochrane against the AC Avalanche.
