MATCHING PETS WITH PEOPLE

-

At almost three years of age, Rika is an excellent combination of maturity and youth. This spotted brown tabby looks like she might still be a bit of a kitten and, indeed, she has a youngster’s curiosity. She enjoys discovering new things and learning all she can. But Rika is also a well-adjusted adult. She’s been through a lot: homelessness, fostering, an adoption that wasn’t permanent — due to the humans’ change of circumstances — and now a foster-home again. But she hasn’t suffered because of it all. She accepts changes quite calmly, and wouldn’t be a challenge to introduce into a new environment. She likes all people — especially if they fuss over her — and isn’t the shy type. While she spends a day exploring and playing like a kid, she settles down in the evening for adult fun: conversation, watching television and generally relaxing with her people. To meet Rika, stop by Homes Alive (downtown) between noon and 3 p.m. today. You may also contact the PAW Society at 403-328-6700 or send an online inquiry at www.pawsociety.com. Rika's a cat with an adult’s sense, and a kitten’s sense of fun.

Skye is a very petite and slightly timid little tabby. She came to the Humane Society last spring with her kittens, and has been in foster care until now. Skye takes a bit to get to know people, but once she does she’s very loyal and enjoys attention. Skye is very young, about a year old, and very kittenish. She especially loves to play with toys. Skye really liked the dog at her foster home, and got along well with all of the kittens. If you are interested in meeting Skye, you can visit her at the Lethbridge Humane Society (2920 16 Ave. N. or call 403-3208991). Minnie is grateful that she was saved on Thursday, two days ago, from freezing behind a diner when she was abandoned by the people who had her. Thank you to the owner of the restaurant for saving her. Now Minnie would be happy to have her own home. The Last Chance Cat Ranch receives on average five calls daily about homeless cats and kittens, lately ones freezing in the cold. Please go to our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/lastchancecatranch, to read more about what we do. Thank you to everyone who supports our rescue efforts, our donors, fosters, adopters and volunteers.

Leo is a nine-year-old flame-point Himalayan who is definitely the face of neglect. He was surrendered to a shelter in Alberta in horrible condition. He was matted, emaciated, his teeth were rotten, he had entropion and a urinary tract infection. He has since been shaved, treated for his infection and had dental and entropion surgery. The shelter was reaching out for help and we were contacted. Purrfect Endings Rescue is looking for an adopter or foster for this sweet senior. He is still at the shelter and his time is limited. Please call Linda (403-381-9269) or Sam (403-382-0977) if you are able to help Leo. We are also on Facebook. If you would like to foster, you need to be committed. We are full and would have to rely solely on a foster home. We are always in great need of donations to help with our account at Green Acres Animal Hospital. No amount is too small. Cheeto and Cheddar are up for adoption at Petland. Stop by and meet these adorable brothers.

Ruby is a sweet little senior (10-plus years). She’s an angel on a leash and doesn’t require much exercise but she sure loves to trot along! She is quiet in the house and her little bumper bed is her favourite sleeping spot. Ruby’s favourite treat is chicken and loves to get her chin scratched. She does fine with other dogs and cats but tends to be indifferent to them. She’ll follow you around the house and yard like a heat seeking missile. She’d love a big comfy bed and a warm place by the fire to spend her retirement years. Visit www.windycityrescue.com or call 403-359-3139 for more information.
