Musical entertainm­ent by soloist Kathie Friesen, and inspiratio­n by Rhonda Wiens from Bow Island, speaking about “The Big Picture.” Guest feature will be presented by Dawn Kondas from the Taber Library. • Southminst­er United Church offers monthly Labyrinth events. The next session will take place Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m., led by Veriditas-certified facilitato­r Nancy Fabro. • Book Study: Why Do We Suffer? will be offered at Martha Retreat Centre five Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m., Jan. 23 to Feb. 27. In this book study, Daniel Harrington sj, invites us to reflect on and discuss passages in Scripture in which we read about the issue of suffering and how these insights can be related to our own today. • A Deepening Retreat in Centering Prayer will take place from Friday, Jan. 26 at 7:30 p.m. to Sunday, Jan 28 at 1 p.m. at the Martha Retreat Centre, 1130 Scenic Drive S. This retreat is for persons who are committed to Centering Prayer. The weekend will include a video by Thomas Keating, periods of Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, silence and solitude. • The Missions Thrift Store, located at 1004 1 Ave. S., is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Profits go toward mission work and Bibles for people in China and other Asian countries. Phone 403-327-3199.

• The MCC Thrift Shop, located at 1117 2 Ave. N., will feature Level Ground Fair Trade coffee, formerly carried by Ten Thousand Villages, effective Jan. 15. Proceeds from the store go to support poverty reduction projects around the world through Mennonite Central Committee.
