Clippers tame Rebels in league play

Berkley Heggie and Maitlynn Miller scored 29 and 22 points respective­ly to power the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Clippers to a 95-64 victory over the W.R. Myers Rebels in Southern Alberta High School Girls Basketball League play Wednesday night.

Avery Edwards added 10 points in the homecourt victory for the Clippers. The teams were tied 32-32 at half.

Kitawna Sparks scored 22 points to lead Myers, while Austen Robbins and Lauren Steed finished with 11 and 10 points respective­ly.

In the junior varsity game, W.R. Myers slipped past LCI 59-56, after trailing 29-24 at half. Anika Steed and Emily Hoyt led the winners with 17 and 16 points respective­ly, while Halle Johnson added 11.

Hadley Selk led LCI with 13 points and Annah Westrop had 10.

In another senior varsity game, Madison Barfuss and Morgan Gibb both scored 10 points as Cardston Cougars topped visiting Chinook Coyotes 60-42.

Payton Viney, with 14, and Charlize Baron with 12, led the Coyotes.

In a junior varsity game, Catholic Central topped Winston Churchill 83-15. Jana Dyck scored 16 points for the Cougars, Kyra Collier had 14, and Jordan Goruk had 10. Grace Hatch had nine points for the Griffins. In a Tuesday boys’ league game, Parker Davidson scored 19 points as Medicine Hat scored a 92-70 victory at Chinook. Ben Menesho added 14 points, Bailey Gosse and Eidan Jonker both scored 11 and Reece Mulder netted 10.

Haroon Ahmed led Chinook with 17 points, Boe Clarkson had 12 and Liam Doyle netted 11.

Chinook was a 71-55 winner in the junior varsity game, as Carter Atwood and Gabe Montgomery scored 14 and 13 points respective­ly. Chase Kehler, with 11, and Doyle with 10, also reached double figures.

Gabriel Baldovinos scored 10 to lead Medicine Hat.
