Golden Hawks suffer two losses

The Lethbridge Val Matteotti bantam AAA Golden Hawks were held winless in two road games on the weekend.

The Golden Hawks lost 4-3 to the Airdrie Xtreme Saturday and 6-3 to the Calgary Northstars on Sunday.

The Golden Hawks drop to 17-9-4 and third place in the Ram South Division.

On Saturday against the divisionle­ading Xtreme (21-3-5), Joel Mabin scored in the first period and Cole Larocque and Nolan Price added second-period goals.

Price also had two assists for a threepoint game. Larocque added an assist.

Golden Hawks goaltender Tyler Palmer made 31 saves.

The Northstars rang Lethbridge up for four third-period goals Sunday.

Rylan Bruns, Teigen Parenteau and Rylen Roersma scored for the Golden Hawks, and Erick Roest stopped 32 shots.

The Golden Hawks are back home Saturday at 7 p.m. when the Calgary Royals (19-9-3) visit Nicholas Sheran Arena.

Lethbridge then plays Sunday in Calgary against the Flames (7-21-3).
