Comets roll over Coyotes

Eleven players hit the scoresheet and five reached double digits as the homecourt Raymond Comets rolled to a 108-48 victory over the Chinook Coyotes in Southern Alberta High School Boys Basketball League play Tuesday night.

Jeter Heggie led the offence with 22 points, while Drake Still netted 16. Brady Baines scored 14 and both Garrett Hasegawa and Liam Davison had 10 for the winners.

Liam Doyle and Boe Clarkson led the Coyotes with 10 points apiece.

In the junior varsity game, Chinook slipped past the Comets 85-82.

Karson Valgardson and Doyle paced the winners with 26 and 25 points respective­ly, while Ty Wevers scored 10.

Jaxon West, with 22 points, and Davison with 20, led Raymond scorers. Ryker Davison added 10.

In other action, LCI Rams defeated the Winston Churchill Bulldogs 99-79 as John Evans led the way with 37 points while Isaiah Bagnah and Zach Jacobs added 19 and 10 respective­ly.

Caleb Kadijk replied with 13 points for the Bulldogs while Raphael Hogan, Cian Callao and Ali Azimi added 12 apiece, followed by Reuben Roth and Sean Adams with 11 each.

LCI defeated Churchill 9249 in the JV contest as Tanner French scored 26 points while Garrett Procee and David Kindley added 12 each.

Brock Gatzky scored 13 for Churchill and Tyreese Russell added 10.

In other action, Magrath Zeniths topped the Catholic Central Cougars 97-88 as Taylor Cook hit for 26 points and Sam Payne and Mason Stock added 22 and 20 respective­ly.

CJ Hirsche replied with 23 points for the Cougars, while Ben Hoveling scored 20 points and Shae Gibb added 18.

Magrath downed CCH 86-69 in JV play as Levi Gruninger tossed in 20 points, followed by Jaxon Gruninger with 16, Thomas Frank with 13 and Taylor Harker with 12.

Inigo Castro scored 19 for CCH while Daniel Marcic added 15.

In girls league play, Kansas Long scored 29 points as Raymond erased a 41-36 halftime deficit to beat the Cardston Cougars 83-73.

Lyvia Jensen added 12 points, Emma Greep scored 11 and Kelby Terry added 10.

Haylie Holland led the Cougars with 18 points, Madison Barfuss and Hanna Nunn both scored 11 and Madison Leishman finished with 10.

Cardston won the junior varsity game 44-36 after trailing by six at halftime.

Lauren Wolsey scored 17 points and Melissa Carter had 11 for the winners.

Tilani Iwaasa and Cassidy Quinton both scored eight points for Raymond.
