PM’s ‘leadership’ is intolerance of opposing beliefs
LETTERS
Re: “Trudeau showing leadership with summer jobs funding change,” Feb. 3 Letter to the Editor.
I absolutely agree with the claim made in this letter that Prime Minister Trudeau is showing leadership in the summer jobs funding change; however, let’s call this type of leadership out for what it really is: dictatorship. The Liberal Party already bans its own MPs from voting pro-life. Now Trudeau and his thought police have arrogantly determined that their pro-choice party platform must be an attested value of Canadians desiring to work.
It is compelling every group applying for funding for summer jobs to sign an attestation stating it respects a woman’s reproductive rights, which the guide states include the right to abortion. The Charter of Rights and Freedoms does not contain this “right.” Ironically, it does promise the fundamental freedoms of conscience, religion, thought and belief. It also guarantees the right to life, liberty, and security of the person — the person also includes the preborn, as embryology texts confirm without reservation.
In 1988 the Supreme Court struck down our abortion laws, leaving room for Parliament to construct a new law. However, future Parliaments shrank back in cowardice, leaving us with the moral vacuum of today where abortions are permitted in all nine months of pregnancy (putting us in the same league with only China and North Korea).
The writer of this letter uses the strange claim that “half of us will always be women” to support her position. In keeping with this type of “argument,” I suggest she consider that 100 per cent of us will always have been in utero.
In her last-ditch effort to defend Trudeau’s move, she throws up a ridiculous straw man argument (straw “people” argument for Trudeau). She casts the blame on “religious” people for the horrifying acts perpetrated against women now coming forward in the #MeToo movement, as if there is a relationship between being religious/pro-life and sexually abusing women. I appeal to the discernment of the readers to easily knock down that scarecrow argument as well.
The only fact with evidence to support it is that PM Trudeau and his party are utterly intolerant of those with pro-life beliefs and are visibly targeting these people. This is the new Canada under Trudeau’s “reign.” Anne Konynenbelt
