Rams stay in third place

The LCI Rams boys varsity basketball team kept a firm grip on third place in the Southern Alberta High School Basketball League Saturday night.

The Rams headed to Winston Churchill to face the Bulldogs and earned an 85-58 decision to improve to 9-4 to stay in third place.

LCI is six points behind the 11-1 Magrath Pandas and Cardston Cougars and four points ahead of the 7-5 Raymond Comets.

On Saturday, John Evans led the Rams with 20 points and Jack-Henry Fox-Grey hit for 15. Zach Jacobs and Isaiah Bagnah scored 13 points each and Derek McNabb contribute­d with 10.

The Bulldogs were led by Isaac Greenwood’s 36-point night.

In the junior varsity game LCI won 101-55, led by Garrett Procee’s 25 points and Carter Johnson’s 23.

Tyler Oliver scored 15 points, Aaron McNabb drained 12 and Keanan Braithwait­e had 11.

Tymen Card and Kevin Davies each had 14 points for Winston Churchill.

In the girls junior varsity game, LCI beat the Griffins 73-21.

Annah Westrop led the Clippers with 16 points and Maddi Boehme, Kya Bester and Kennedy Tanner each scored 13 points.

Shayla Sheen chipped in with 10 points for LCI.

Grace Hatch led the Griffins with 11 points.

A busy week of league play continues today with two girls varsity and junior varsity games on the schedule.

The Medicine Hat Kwahommies (4-6) are in Cardston to take on the Cougars (6-4), while the Taber W.R. Myers Rebels (3-6) head to Raymond to face the firstplace Comets (10-1).
