Canes topped in Prince Albert

- LETHBRIDGE HERALD

For the second time in a little over a week, the Lethbridge Hurricanes have been topped by the Prince Albert Raiders. The Hurricanes were in Prince Albert Saturday for their second road game in as many nights, losing 4-1 to the Raiders during Western Hockey League action.

Tied at 1-1 in the third period, a too many men penalty assessed to the Hurricanes proved costly as the Raiders struck on the power play for the game winner before adding two more to salt the win.

With the loss the Hurricanes are 32-26-6-0.

The Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead midway through the first on Dylan Cozens’ 21st of the season, but it was all Raiders the rest of the way on the scoresheet.

Brayden Paschal knotted the score at 1-1 with 7:01 left in the second to set the table for Prince Albert’s final-period outburst.

Vojtech Budik scored the power play goal that put the Raiders ahead for good 8:51 into the third for a 2-1 lead.

Max Martin and Cole Fonstad rounded out the scoring for Prince Albert.

Hurricanes goaltender Logan Flodell stopped 31 shots in the loss as the Raiders outshot the Hurricanes 35-26.

With their playoff spot clinched earlier this week, the Hurricanes continue their road trip early in the week.

They’re in Brandon to face the Wheat Kings on Tuesday and stop off in Moose Jaw on the way home to face the Warriors Wednesday, a little over a week after beating Moose Jaw 4-3 at the Enmax Centre.

The Canes return home Friday night when the Red Deer Rebels come calling to the Enmax Centre at 7 p.m.
