Weigh-in time: 99:45 a.m. Meeting: 10-11 a.m. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a not-forprofit support group for members who are trying to lose or maintain their weight. • Galt Museum’s Daytime Galt Workshops hands-on history program for adults and seniors continues March 7 from 10:30 a.m.-noon, featuring “Rag Dolls.” Learn about the history of a beloved childhood toy, the doll, and make your own rag doll to take home with you. Galt lecture program for adults and seniors continues March 7 from 2-3 p.m., featuring “Museum Collections Management.” Join Kevin MacLean, the Galt's Collections Manager, as he shares his insights about the practices and processes of managing the Museum’s movable cultural property and its unique efforts to expand and share its objects’ cultural significance. • Lethbridge Public Library will celebrate International Women’s Day March 8 with a special evening film screening and speakers starting at 7 p.m. at the Main Branch Theatre Gallery. There will be a screening of the film “The Breadwinner” as well as an opportunity for women in the community to speak about their lives and experiences. Featured speakers will include: Belinda Crowson (speaking on women in Lethbridge’s history), Rebekah Eckert (women and faith), Kelti Baird (brew master and owner of Theoretically Brewing Company), as well as several young women from Immigrant Services and the university’s Indigenous Studies program. A special puppet show will take place March 7 at 2 p.m. in Children’s Services at the Main Branch as part of International Women’s Day events.
• ARCHES (formerly Lethbridge HIV Connection) is holding its annual Gerbera Daisy Spring for Life fundraising campaign. Purchase 5 brightly coloured mini Gerbera Daisies for $6 a bouquet. They can be pre-ordered any time before
March 9 by calling the office at 403-7951535 between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday to Thursday or emailing student@lethbridgearches.com. The daisies will be available for delivery (on orders of 10 or more) March 15-16 or you can pick them up at ARCHES at 1206 6
Ave. S. between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 1516. All proceeds support the programs at ARCHES which provide services to those living with/or affected by HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis C in Southwestern Alberta.
• World Day of Prayer service will take place March 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Coaldale United Church. The event was postponed from March 2 because of inclement weather.
• The Condo Owners Forum Society of Alberta, Alberta’s only registered nonprofit society for condo owners, will hold a free seminar entitled “What Every Condo Owner Needs to Know” March 10 from 1-4 p.m. (registration at 12:30 p.m.) at Rio Vista Condominiums (75 1 Ave. S. in Lethbridge). • Interfaith Food Bank will host at twosession Shop Smart and Collective Kitchen workshop March 13 and 15 at 6 p.m. each day. Shop Smart, taking place March
13, combines nutrition education with a grocery store tour to learn money-saving tips and plan healthy meals. Collective Kitchen, March 15, brings participants together to cook large batches of food for serving later (you must complete Shop Smart to take this class).
