• University of Lethbridge will present an Internatio­nal Women’s Day event March 9, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at PB210, Dr. Foster James Penny Building, 324 5 St. S. Sponsored by the Department of Women and Gender Studies, this event is an interactiv­e celebratio­n to press forward and achieve gender parity. The #PressforPr­ogress hashtag allows anyone interested to engage and be counted. The event includes a launch of Dr. Glenda Bonifacio’s new book titled “Global Currents in Gender and Feminism.”

• University of Lethbridge will present Southern Alberta Employment Opportunit­ies and Outlook March 9, 3 p.m., at B650, University Hall. Agricultur­al Studies and the Department of Economics at the U of L are sponsoring this public presentati­on featuring Jeremy Carter, field department manager at McCain Foods. Carter will talk about opportunit­ies for U of L graduates in rural and agricultur­al labour markets.

• ARCHES (formerly Lethbridge HIV Connection) is holding its annual Gerbera Daisy Spring for Life fundraisin­g campaign. Purchase 5 brightly coloured mini Gerbera Daisies for $6 a bouquet. They can be preordered any time before March 9 by calling the office at 403-795-1535 between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday to Thursday or emailing student@lethbridge­arches.com. The daisies will be available for delivery (on orders of 10 or more) March 15-16 or you can pick them up at ARCHES at 1206 6 Ave. S. between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 15-16. All proceeds support the programs at ARCHES which provide services to those living with/or affected by HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis C in Southweste­rn Alberta.

• World Day of Prayer service will take place March 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Coaldale United Church. The event was postponed from March 2 because of inclement weather.

• Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans Club, 517 5 Ave. S., invites the public to play shuffleboa­rd, mixed darts and billiards (pool) Fridays, 7 p.m.; shuffleboa­rd Tuesdays at 7 p.m.; crib on Wednesdays at 7 p.m.; and open crib tournament second Sunday of the month at 1 p.m.

• TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a non-profit organizati­on which provides support to people wanting to lose weight, meets regularly in Lethbridge and area. Details: Eileen Schmidt, 403-4052410, or visit the website, www.tops.org.

• The Lethbridge Associatio­n of the Blind (LAB) provides numerous activities for the blind and visually impaired in the Lethbridge area. Some of these include dinners with entertainm­ent, attending musicals and tours of local museums. The associatio­n also runs a bowling league which takes place weekly at the Holiday Bowl. • The Condo Owners Forum Society of Alberta, Alberta’s only registered nonprofit society for condo owners, will hold a free seminar entitled “What Every Condo Owner Needs to Know” March

• West Wind Gymnastics Club offers drop-in fun on Saturdays from 2-4 p.m. It’s a great opportunit­y to practise your gymnastic skills in a friendly, supervised environmen­t. Age 5 and under $6 and must be accompanie­d by an adult; 6 and older $12.

• Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group meets the second Saturday of the month at 2 p.m. in Room C and D at the LSCO, 500 11 St. S. Trigeminal neuralgia is a neuropathi­c disorder characteri­zed by episodes of intense pain in the face, originatin­g from the trigeminal nerve. • Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on will offer an Android Smartphone­s and Tablets two-day course,

• Interfaith Food Bank will host at twosession Shop Smart and Collective Kitchen workshop March 13 and 15 at 6 p.m. each day. Shop Smart, taking place

March 13, combines nutrition education with a grocery store tour to learn moneysavin­g tips and plan healthy meals. Collective Kitchen, March 15, brings participan­ts together to cook large batches of food for serving later (you must complete Shop Smart to take this class). • A volunteer group at Chinook Regional Hospital seeks donations of materials to be used to make various items to be sold in the Hospital Gift Shop. Looking for cottons and flannelett­e as well as craft supplies to make tray favours. Donations can be dropped off at the Hospital Gift Shop or call 403-7950905 to arrange pickup.
