MATCHING PETS WITH PEOPLE

-

This public service feature runs each Saturday in the Lethbridge Herald.

Harry is a nice, gentle boy, but very shy. He and his brothers were surrendered to the Humane Society when his owners moved, and he is very anxious in his new surroundings. Harry is going to require patient people to help him settle in, but he’s going to be a lovely companion. He is very reserved, but accepts petting and snuggling when he is picked up. Harry’s adoption fee is $220. He has been neutered and all of his vaccinations are up to date. Harry is ready for his forever home, hoping for lots of love and attention! If you are interested in meeting Harry, you can visit him at the Lethbridge Humane Society (2920 16 Ave. N. or call 403-320-8991). To view other Haven pets, go to www.lethbridgehumanesociety.com and click on the Available Pets link. Also ceck out the Lethbridge and District Humane Society on Facebook.

Amidala is new to PAW. She’s certainly not old — only about two years of age, and even has brilliant baby blue eyes! But this mostly white girl has been through a lot in her short life. When rescued, she was described as having been a stray “for some time”; her fur was matted and she had what looked to be burns in her mouth. How on Earth ...? Well, never mind that now. With care and attention, she quickly became healthy. But Amidala needs more. She is looking for full-time attention from a loving person: someone to give her a tall cat-tree from which she can view the world; someone to admire the soft coat that she keeps beautiful; someone to let her sleep on the bed at night. As well as loving people, Amidala is good with other cats — she has a feline pal she’d love to be adopted with — and doesn’t mind small dogs in the least. So, you see, while Amidala has experienced much in her two years, there is much more she wants to have — like a doting human. To meet her, call the PAW Society at 403-328-6700 or send an online inquiry at www.pawsociety.com. Get to know Amidala: a new cat you can grow old with.

Martini is approximately five or six years old and came to Purrfect Endings Rescue from Medicine Hat. She has sneezing episodes that are not contagious to other cats. She is on a low dose of prednisolone which seems to be helping. Martini is very affectionate. She does little jumps to show how much she loves being petted. However, she does not have the same love for other felines so she would do best as an only cat. Martini is up for adoption at Petland. Thank you so much to Allan and his staff for supporting our rescue. Call Linda (403-381-9269) or Sam (403-382-0977) of Purrfect Endings Rescue for more information about Martini. We have had so many medical bills and our account at Green Acres Animal Hospital is huge. We are in desperate need of donations. No amount is too small. Thank you to those individuals who have donated. We are so grateful.

Morley invites you to come to see us today at Meet Your Maker at the Royal Canadian Legion branch on Mayor Magrath Drive and 4 Avenue South. We will have information about our adoptable cats, fostering and volunteering in addition to crafts for sale to support our rescue. The Last Chance Cat Ranch has a group of fantastic cats who have been waiting patiently for their furever homes. As a not-for-profit, volunteer-run cat rescue, we do our best to help as many cats that we can, giving them the veterinary care they need and finding the best homes possible. Thank you to everyone in our community who supports our rescue efforts. We have been receiving a lot of calls about taking in homeless and stray cats. We are only able to help as many as we have foster homes and finances to do so. Thank you to everyone who helps by helping to care for cats in our community.
