Contemplat­io (formerly Taizé Prayer) will take place March 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Martha Retreat Centre, featuring ecumenical, meditative, multilingu­al, musical devotion, based on the music and style of the French ecumenical religious community of Taizé, a world-renowned centre of pilgrimage and prayer. The group meets September through June on the third Sunday of each month. All are invited and welcome. • Southminst­er United Church offers monthly Labyrinth events. The next session will take place March 20 at 7 p.m., led by Veriditas-certified facilitato­r Nancy Fabro. March 20 is the Vernal Equinox so participan­ts will celebrate it by walking the labyrinth. Open to the public; enter through the west office doors at 1011 4 Ave. S.; by donation. • McKillop United Church (2329 15 Ave. S.) will host a showing of the film “The Road Forward March 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Lane Lounge. The film is a powerful musical National Film Board documentar­y connecting Indigenous nationalis­m of the 1930s and ’40s with the momentum of today's First Nations activism. It connects stories and interviews with music and songs written and performed by Indigenous artists — a rare experience of Canadian history written through an Indigenous perspectiv­e. to May 10, from 7-9 p.m. at Martha Retreat Centre. Knitting a prayer shawl in a group is a delightful way to be present to others in prayer and socializin­g. • A Spring Clothing Drive will be held May 12 from 10 a.m.-noon, at Park Meadows Baptist Church, 2011 15 Ave. N., offering free clothing for all. Gently used clothing, shoes and bedding will be accepted for donation from March 26 to May 4 at the church.

• The Missions Thrift Store, located at 1004 1 Ave. S., is open Monday Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Profits go toward mission work and Bibles for people in China and other Asian countries. Phone 403-327-3199.

• The MCC Thrift Shop, located at 1117 2 Ave. “A” N., features Level Ground Fair Trade coffee, formerly carried by Ten Thousand Villages. Proceeds from the store go to support poverty reduction projects around the world through Mennonite Central Committee. The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be 50 per cent off on the last business day and

• Coaldale United Church operates Ye Old Thrift Shoppe Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2022 18 St., Coaldale. Most clothing at $2 or less and miscellane­ous items at reasonable prices (no large furniture). Donations of smaller household items and clothing — clean and in good condition — are appreciate­d.
