Two Lethbridge professionals are joining the board of Economic Developers Alberta.

Lethbridge County economic development officer Martin Ebel and Trevor Lewington, chief executive officer of Economic Development Lethbridge, were elected its board of directors for a two-year term.

“This is a very exciting announcement for Lethbridge County,” says Reeve Lorne Hickey in a release. “Mr. Ebel will bring a unique southern Alberta perspective to EDA and help to move the organization forward.

“We are proud of the work Mr. Ebel has done for Lethbridge County since joining us in 2013 and are confident in the contribution he will make.”

It’s an important time in Alberta’s history, Ebel says in the release.

“There are significant economic challenges, but also great opportunities for our province, and I am excited to help move things forward in a positive way.”

With over 15 years of executive management experience in the food processing industry, Lewington works to provide a broad-based perspective and collaborative approach in his efforts to promote economic growth in the region.

Currently the mayor of Stirling, Lewington is also an active board member of the Plant Protein Alliance of Alberta as well as Intelligent Community Forum – Canada.

He received an award from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities for his field work and contributions to the Caribbean Local Economic Development Project, having worked to build local government capacity in Belize and Jamaica.

Economic Development Alberta is a professional organization for Alberta’s economic developers, providing information, networking and other opportunities for officials to build partnerships on a local, national, and international level.
