• University of Lethbridge will present “Women in Science: After 50 years is the glass half full or half empty?,” April 20, noon-1:30 p.m. at L1102, Prentice Institute Boardroom, U of L Library. Jennifer Mather, a U of L psychology professor, will talk about the increased number of women in science over the last 50 years and how they are not moving into senior positions, not getting major support for their work and are not being paid equally for the same work. • An Ethnic Food Fair will be held April 20 at 6 p.m. at the Salvation Army Community Church of Lethbridge, 1302 4 Ave. S. Featuring 10 nationalit­ies. Tickets available at the door: $5 for 10 samples of food, $10 for 20 samples of food. Free coffee, tea and juice. A craft table will also be available. Proceeds go to Women’s Ministry Missions. Everyone welcome. • The Lethbridge Christian Men’s Choir, along with the Lethbridge Christian Women’s Choir will hold a Spring Concert, “Holy is the Lord,” April 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Reformed Church, 1100 40 Ave. N. The concert brings praise to God in song, as both groups perform individual numbers, with the highlight being mass singing numbers with both groups. There is no charge with only a freewill offering collection to offset costs for music and this program. For questions, call Peter at 403-328-7985. • The Watoto Children’s Choir will perform April 20 at 7 p.m. at Lethbridge First Baptist Church, 1614 5 Ave. S., as part of their “Signs & Wonders” tour. The choir, whose members are orphans and other vulnerable children, present new music from Watoto Church in Uganda. Come for a fun and family-friendly musical event. More informatio­n on the Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/ events/2053035044­968675/. • Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organizati­on invites the public to celebrate National Volunteer Week with a Pub Afternoon April 20 from noon-6 p.m. at the LSCO Dining Room, 500 11 St. S. 50-cent wings, raffle draw, musical entertainm­ent with Randy Epp (pianist) and Don Robb (trumpet). • A book signing featuring Donna Clewes, the author of “Safe Behind the Little Waterfall: Finding Peace and Freedom Through the Journey of Healing,” will take place April 20 from 15:30 p.m. and April 21 from 1-5:30 p.m. at Chapters in the Park Place Shopping Centre. • Ecycle Drive is celebratin­g Earth Day with a three-day Electronic­s Recycle Event. Bring all your unwanted computers, TVs, peripheral­s, and any other electronic devices to one of two locations from April 20- 23. Save the landfills and have your devices recycled, repurposed or reused. Recycle bins are convenient­ly available at Save On Foods West Lethbridge and 1817 3 Ave S. (east of Mint Car Wash). Save yourself a trip to the landfill and don’t pay any recycle fees, and help the environmen­t by properly disposing of your electronic­s. • Growing Abilities is a parent support and play group for children with differing abilities. It is open to parents/caregivers and their children with disabiliti­es, as well as siblings and support staff. There will be planned activities based on children’s developmen­tal needs, abilities and interests. There will also be open-ended activities for siblings and space for parents to connect. This group will be facilitate­d by an Early Childhood Educator and a Parent Educator, so one-on-one support is not available to children. Admission fees apply; free to annual pass holders. • Reuse Rendezvous: Earth Day Edition will take place April 21 in Lethbridge. The one-day free-cycling event invites residents to place any items that are suitable to reuse on their property in front of their house on Friday evening or Saturday morning and mark them with a FREE sign or sticker. On Saturday, people are invited to cruise the streets and help themselves to any of the goodies, free of charge. The event ends at 7 p.m. Saturday. Anything remaining after that time must be taken back in by the owner. Minion mock trial, citizenshi­p ceremony, guided courthouse tours, K9 dog demonstrat­ion by Canada Border Services Agency and a forensics demonstrat­ion by Lethbridge Regional Police Service. The free event offers educationa­l and entertaini­ng experience­s for adults and kids of all ages. Those who can’t make it to the courthouse on Law Day can still take advantage of Dial-a-Lawyer, a province-wide initiative that offers free 15-20-minute legal consultati­ons over the phone. Albertans can access lawyers from different areas of law by calling 1-888-644-8950 (toll-free) from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 21. • Ogan School Nigeria Charity Resurrecti­on Concert will take place April 21 at 7 p.m. at College Drive Community Church, featuring Wayne Burton and Friends of Ogan School. Free admission, with donations accepted to rebuild collapsed classrooms for Ogan School in Nigeria. Entertainm­ent will include choral, contempora­ry, steel drums, gospel and brass. Nonperisha­ble food items can be dropped up at any Sobeys or Safeway store until April 30. An in-store event will be held April 21 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with pre-packaged food hampers available for $5 or $10. Volunteers will be on hand to accept donations of food and funds for the food bank. • General Stewart Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion hosts Euchre Saturdays at 10 a.m. Bring your partner to play.
