-

The Interfaith Food Bank is encouraging submissions for its annual High School Student Art Competition.

The event features $600 in cash prizes and artists have until June 15 to submit their pieces to Interfaith Food Bank. The prize for first place is $300, with prizes of $200 and $100 for second and third respectively.

Students are asked to submit a two-dimensional piece of art (acrylic, oil, gouache, watercolour, ink, drawing or dry mediums). The theme is “Food for All” and the dimensions need to be scalable to 8.5-by-11 inches (for publication use).

Submissions must be an original work of art. The pieces of art will remain the property of the artist, but may be used by Interfaith Food Bank in any manner they see fit.

No words or text to be included in the artwork, and a 250-500word bio from each artist needs to be attached to the artwork.

Registration closes June 1, with art submissions due June 15. Art must be dropped off at the Interfaith Food Bank main office, 1103 3 Ave. N., no later than 4 p.m. on June 15 (they can be dropped off sooner).

The art pieces will be on display in July/August and will be returned to the artists at the end of the showing.

Judging will take place during July/August by local artist Amy Dodic, Interfaith board member Linda Sprinkle and a community representative yet to be determined.

Finalists will be announced at the gallery opening in July/August. For more information, contact Interfaith Food Bank at 403-320-8779 and ask for Joani.
