Property tax notices in the mail today

- LETHBRIDGE HERALD lethbridge.ca/tipp.

Property owners can expect to be receiving their property tax notices in the mail starting today.

The City is encouraging people to pay their taxes before June 29, to avoid any late payment penalties.

Anyone who does not receive their 2018 tax notice by May 31 is asked to log on to their MyCity account on

lethbridge.ca to register their property using the roll number and access code, located on their Assessment Notice, which was sent out in January. Once registered, property owners can print off their tax notice, but can also get help with registration by visiting City Hall.

The City will accept payments mailed by cheque or money order to the City of Lethbridge, 910 – 4 Avenue South, T1J 0P6. They are reminding people to not send cash in the mail, but cash, cheques, and debit card payments are accepted by the cashiers on the main floor of City Hall.

The City of Lethbridge does not accept credit card payments, but taxpayers can refer to their tax notices for information on how to use a third-party credit card service.

Online banking is an option for those wanting to pay electronically, information on how to pay online is provided on the cities website and can do so using the 13-digit roll number located on the top right section of their tax notice.

The City offers people the option of using a monthly Tax Instalment Prepayment Plan (TIPP), which reduces your tax bill with a 1.25-percent annual discount credit.

Property owners who have paid their 2018 taxes in full are able to sign up for TIPP by July 20, to be enrolled for the 2019 taxes.
