Spring Convocatio­n starts today at U of L

It’s the day they’ve been working towards for the past four or more years.

During four ceremonies between today and Friday, 1,351 students will join the ranks of University of Lethbridge alumni as they cross the stage at the 2018 Spring Convocatio­n.

Ceremonies take place today and Friday at the 1st Choice Savings Centre for Sport and Wellness, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day. All ceremonies are free and open to the public.

Graduands and platform guests will be assembling in University Hall, Level 6, prior to each procession.

The U of L will also celebrate student medal winners at 2018 Spring Convocatio­n. They are as follows:

• Gold Medal of the Governor General: Jason Flindall (Ceremony I). Awarded to the student with the highest academic standing at the graduate level.

• Silver Medal of the Governor General: In-Tek Hong (Ceremony I). Awarded to the student with the highest academic standing at the undergradu­ate level.

• Faculty of Arts & Science Gold Medal (Arts): Tessa Penich (Ceremony II).

• Faculty of Arts & Science Gold Medal (Science): Hong (Ceremony I).

• Faculty of Education Gold Medal: Naomi Entz (Ceremony III).

• Alberta Teacher’s Associatio­n William Aberhart Gold Medal in Education: Michele Loman (Ceremony III).

• Faculty of Fine Arts Gold Medal: Alyssa Waldner (Ceremony III).

• Faculty of Health Sciences Gold Medal: Meghan Tompkins (Ceremony II).

• Dhillon School of Business Gold Medal: Devin Vornbrock (Ceremony IV).

• School of Graduate Studies Silver Medal of Merit, Doctor of Philosophy: Pasquale Bosso (Ceremony I).

• School of Graduate Studies Silver Medal of Merit, Master of Arts: Brendan Cummins (Ceremony I).

• School of Graduate Studies Silver Medal of Merit, Master of Science: Taura Willoughby (Ceremony I).

• School of Graduate Studies Silver Medal of Merit, Fine Arts & Music: Jonathan Martin (Ceremony III).

• School of Graduate Studies Silver Medal of Merit, Master of Education: Dan New (Ceremony III).

• School of Graduate Studies Silver Medal of Merit, Master of Science (Mgt): Emma (Lei) Jing (Ceremony III).
