• Great Canadian Plains Railway Society will hold its Annual General Meeting May 31 at 7 p.m. at the Galt Historic Railway Park station north of Stirling. Agenda will include: reading/approval of minutes from the previous AGM; president’s report; secretary’s report; presentati­on of the financial statement; nomination­s and elections for positions of treasure and committee members. The station is located 1 km north of Stirling. • The Galt Museum will present the next segment in its Archives program May 31 from 7-9 p.m., featuring “Archives 101.” Come and learn about the historical treasures at the Galt Archives. Tour the archival facility (including non-public areas), learn the rules and procedures and how to search our newly upgraded online database. Admission fees apply; free to annual pass holders. • Cotton Patch Gospel, a musical starring Andrew Legg, will be presented at McKillop United Church with three performanc­es,

May 31 (7:30 p.m.) and June 2 (2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.). Cotton Patch Gospel retells the life of Jesus as if in modern-day rural Georgia, and features the final and perhaps best music of Harry Chapin. Tickets are $20 each, available from the church office (2329 15 Ave. S.) or at the door. • “Easy Does It” Al-Anon for adult children of alcoholics, a support group for people who want to learn healthier coping skills in their relationsh­ips, meets

• Family Centre presents Me and My Family, a drop-in program designed for working parents to spend time playing and connecting with their children before heading home for the evening. (in Lethbridge Centre). • Lethbridge Horseshoe Club meets every Thursday at 6 p.m. at Henderson Lake park (next to the new pool). Come for fun, fresh air, exercise and make new friends. • A book signing featuring Donna Clewes, the author of “Safe Behind the Little Waterfall: Finding Peace and Freedom Through the Journey of Healing,” will take place June 1 and 2 from 1-5:30 p.m. at Chapters in the Park Place Shopping Centre.

• Growing Abilities is a parent support and play group for children with differing abilities. It is open to parents/caregivers and their children with disabiliti­es, as well as siblings and support staff. There will be planned activities based on children’s developmen­tal needs, abilities and interests. There will also be open-ended activities for siblings and space for parents to connect. This group will be facilitate­d by an Early Childhood Educator and a Parent Educator, so one-on-one support is not available to children. Give it a try at Family Centre Downtown on Fridays from 2-3:30 p.m. at #225, 200 4 Ave. S. The program is free but people are asked to register by calling 403-320-4232. • The Mountain Bluebird Trails Conservati­on Society invites you to its annual Trail Orientatio­n Day June 2 to see an active nest box trail in operation here in Lethbridge. Featuring bedding out plants, veggies and perennials for reasonable prices. • “New Voices of Spring” Concert in Aid of Syrian Refugees will take place June 2 at 7:30 at St. Augustine’s Church, 411 11 St. S. This second concert in aid of the resettleme­nt of Syrian refugees in Lethbridge will feature young and young-at-heart performers from the church as well as two guest ensembles, the Cantare Children’s Choir from Calgary, under the direction of Catherine Glaser-Climie, and the U of L Conservato­ry Young Artist Percussion Academy under the direction of Joe Porter. Tickets are $20 ($10 for children 10 and younger) available at the door. All proceeds will go to the support of two Syrian refugee families. • Lethbridge Horseshoe Club will host a Horseshoe Tournament June 2-3 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Henderson Lake park (next to the new pool). Tournament play is open to Alberta Horseshoe Associatio­n members; spectators are welcome. • Compassion­ate Friends, a non-profit internatio­nal support group for parents who have had a child die, meets the first

Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.noon at McKillop United Church, 2329 15 Ave. S. (but is not affiliated with the church). Parents and their supporting family members or friends are encouraged to attend and observe or talk about their experience­s — it is just parents talking to parents. The tragedy could have happened last week or 10 years ago; the child could be an infant or an adult.

• West Wind Gymnastics Club will be visited by Chase and Marshall of “Paw Patrol” June 3. Register now for the club’s annual Mascot Days. This year Marshall and Chase impersonat­ors will play on the gym floor with your children for 55 minutes. Book your time for $20. Check-in begins at 10 a.m., walk starts at 11 a.m. The event is a fun-filled and family-friendly day to support the people taking on Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis, and a chance to connect with others in our community impacted by inflammato­ry bowel disease.
