Lethbridge Bulls earned their third victory of the Western Major Baseball League season with a 4-3 victory over the Brooks Bombers on Thursday night at Spitz Stadium.

The victory improves the Bulls to 3-8 while the Bombers dropped to 4-7.

Brooks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a lead-off solo home run by Riley McDonald off of Bulls starter Andrew Grieder.

After a scoreless third, the Bulls tied it in the bottom of the fourth as Brett Mercier led off with a single and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Kaleb Warden.

Bulls then went up 3-1 with a pair of runs in the sixth inning as Mercier led off with a walk and moved to third on a double by Dylan Borman. Warden then drove in Mercier with a single and Borman advanced to third. He then scored on a wild pitch.

Bombers came back with two runs in the eighth with two out. Andrew Leggo singled, then advanced to second on a walk to Bryce Ofarrell. Leggo then scored on a single by Zach Lehman and, after a pitching change, Ofarrell scored on a single by Conner Morro.

However, Bulls regained the lead in the bottom of the inning as Warden led off with a walk and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Nick Ankermann.

Bulls finished with seven hits, led by Warden, who went two-for-two with two RBIs and a run scored. Ankermann was one-for-two with an RBI while Borman and Mercier were both one-for-three. Mercier also scored twice.

McDonald led Brooks going twofor-four with a run scored and RBI.

Derrick Talon was the winning pitcher for the Bulls in relief of starter Grieder, going one-third of an inning, giving up a hit and striking out one. Grieder was solid for the Bulls, going seven and twothirds innings, allowing only four hits and three earned runs while striking out 10. Chris Stodolka came on in the ninth and allowed one hit in earning the save.

Jack Caswell took the loss for Brooks in relief of starter Brandon Hillier. Caswell gave up a run and walked two in not recording an out. Hillier went seven innings and allowed seven hits and three earned runs while striking out five.

Bulls hit the road for three games in Edmonton against the Prospects starting tonight.
