• Galt Museum’s Wednesdays at the Galt lecture series for adults and seniors continues June 20 from 2-3 p.m., featuring “Music from the Movies.” Enjoy a musical performanc­e by Chris Roedler as he plays a selection of his favourite songs from movies you know and love. Admission fees apply; free to annual pass holders.

• Seasons Lethbridge, 1730 10 Ave. S. (across from the hospital), will host a jam session June 20 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

• Recreation­al wheelchair basketball practices are held every Wednesday from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Lethbridge YMCA, 515 Stafford Drive S. Players of all abilities are welcome, disabiliti­es or not. No experience is required.

• The Sons of Norway, dedicated to preserving and promoting the Norwegian heritage in Lethbridge, meets the third Wednesday of the month for dinner, socializin­g and organizati­on of activities. Anyone interested in learning more about the Sons of Norway can call Hans Isele at 403-328-0753.

• Alberta Genealogic­al Society Lethbridge Branch will hold its monthly meeting June 21 at 7 p.m. at Room 128, 909 3 Ave. N. Everyone is welcome. The presentati­on will be “Networking to Find my Mother’s Polish Family” by member Len Ross. Resource Centre hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 1:30–4:30 p.m. (last day June 22).

• The 2018 Internment Camp Tour (formerly called Ghost Town Tour) will take place from Thursday, June 21 to Sunday, June 24 inclusive. The tour will cover the Doukhobor Village and Museum in Castlegar, Slocan Valley, New Denver, Sandon, and Kaslo ... all in the West Kootenays. This is a guided study tour and participan­ts will learn a great deal about the internment era during World War Two. Cost is $600/person and covers transporta­tion, hotel accommodat­ions, entry fees and two meals. Seats available on a first-come, firstserve basis. • Blankets for Canada Lethbridge meets Thursdays from 10 a.m.-noon at the west entrance of Southminst­er United Church (11 Street and 4 Avenue). We are in need of more volunteers. Donations of yarn or financial donations are greatly appreciate­d, also eight- or nine-inch squares as well as strips 70 inches long, knitted or crocheted. • Royal Canadian Legion General Stewart Branch No. 4 hosts cribbage every Thursday with a start time of 6:45 p.m. Don’t be late; come out and play.

• The Coaldale United Church Thrift Shop (2022 18 St.) is open Thursdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. as a service to the community. Most clothing and shoes at $2. Household items very reasonably priced — Christmas decoration­s, bedding, tablecloth­s, curtains, kitchen items, books, fine china, jewelry and more. Cash only. Come and browse.

• Family Centre presents Me and My Family, a drop-in program designed for working parents to spend time playing and connecting with their children before heading home for the evening. For all families with children ages 0-8 years. Explore a wide range of activities that will encourage children’s physical activity, imaginatio­n and creativity. Takes place Thursdays from 5:307:30 p.m., until June 28 at Family Centre, Downtown, #225, 200 4 Ave. S. (in Lethbridge Centre).

• Interfaith Learning Garden invites the public to celebrate National Garden Day June 22 from noon-3 p.m. Free barbecue, garden activities, and a chance to learn more about the Interfaith Learning Garden and the many free activities available through Interfaith Food Bank this summer.

• Helen Schuler Nature Centre’s Junior Naturalist­s program for ages 6-10 continues June 23 from 10 a.m.-noon, featuring “Sunlight.” Adults must sign children in and pick them up promptly at noon. For details, call 403-320-3064.

• Martha Retreat Centre will celebrate 50 years in Lethbridge June 24 with Open House from 1-5 p.m. at the centre, 1130 Scenic Drive S. All are welcome to attend.

• Lethbridge and District Horticultu­ral Society will host a presentati­on titled “Plants at Alberta’s Natural Springs” June 25 at 7 p.m. at the Lethbridge Public Library Theatre Gallery. The speaker is Kayleigh Nielson, a research associate at the U of L with a special interest in the rich diversity of plants found at freshwater springs across southern Alberta. The plant communitie­s found at these springs often include both native and nonnative species. This talk will explore which plant species are commonly found at springs in southern Alberta, as well as some of the environmen­tal factors that promote the growth and establishm­ent both native and non-native plants within these ecosystems.
