• The German Canadian Club of Lethbridge, 902 6 St. N., will host a German Dinner Night June 25, featuring Jaegar Schnitzel, and all the trimmings. Cost is $20. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., takeouts at 5 p.m., at dinner at 5:30 pm. For informatio­n and tickets, call 403-320-1689 (ext. 3).

• Lethbridge and District Horticultu­ral Society will host a presentati­on titled “Plants at Alberta’s Natural Springs” June 25 at 7 p.m. at the Lethbridge Public Library Theatre Gallery. The speaker is Kayleigh Nielson, a research associate at the U of L with a special interest in the rich diversity of plants found at freshwater springs across southern Alberta. The plant communitie­s found at these springs often include both native and non-native species. This talk will explore which plant species are commonly found at springs in southern Alberta, as well as some of the environmen­tal factors that promote the growth and establishm­ent both native and non-native plants within these ecosystems.

• Japanese Folk Dance practices continue Mondays through July 9 in preparatio­n for the annual Bon Odori Japanese Dance Festival and Bazaar, July 14. Everyone is invited to learn simple dances in readiness for the Festival. No experience is necessary. Weekly practices will start at 6:30; participan­ts who wish to go traditiona­l are asked to come a bit earlier to dress. Bon Odori is a colourful Buddhist folk dance of joy performed at Galt Gardens in a circle around a Taiko (drum) on a raised platform decorated with lanterns. Practices are held at the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta, 470 40 St. S. There is no registrati­on or fee. All ages are welcome.

• Free outdoor fit camp, for all ages and all abilities, runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at two locations in the city. A 9:15 a.m. session will be held at the playground on Stafford Drive North, and a 6 p.m. session will be held at Adams Park at 13 Street and 9 Avenue North. Call 403393-5590 for more informatio­n.

• Swing Bridge Dance Club meets Mondays from 7:30-9:30 p.m. (cancelled on holiday Mondays) at Eagles Hall, 631 13 St., featuring East Coast Swing dance lessons each week; $3 donation. • Galt Museum’s Archives program for adults and seniors will continue June 28, featuring “Life on Film Reels.” The CJOC TV film reels that were donated to the Galt in 2008 have been digitized. Please come for the first public screening of this unique footage. The films capture community events from the late 1960s and early 1970s including Indian Days, the Lethbridge Ice Arena fire and the 1967 Whoop-Up Days. Admission fees apply; free to annual pass holders.

• Carriage House Theatre in Cardston will present its lineup of alternatin­g summer shows, running from June 29-Aug. 22.
