Murder suspect looking for new lawyer
One of two men charged last March with second-degree murder has adjourned his case for a couple of weeks while he looks for a new lawyer.
An agent representing Stanley Big Sorrel Horse explained Thursday in Lethbridge provincial court that the accused wants different counsel. The judge granted the request, and adjourned the matter to give Big Sorrel Horse time to retain another lawyer.
The development has, however, delayed the case. The Crown prosecutor said he had hoped to set a preliminary inquiry during Thursday’s hearing. A preliminary inquiry, during which a judge hears the Crown’s case, typically determines whether there is enough evidence to warrant a trial.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Feb. 23, Blood Tribe police responded to a report of a man in distress. The man was taken to the hospital but died, and RCMP Major Crimes took over the investigation.
Although Justin was previously released from custody, Stanley was remanded at the Lethbridge Correctional Centre following a bail application last month in Lethbridge Court of Queen’s Bench. The brothers return to court July 19.
