Local doctors, nurses a credit to the profession

-

We so often hear bad reports about health care.

Here is another side of the story. I had a major fall in Quebec, on June 22 which caused us to terminate our holiday and return to Lethbridge.

On my arrival I immediately went to the Emergency as my wound was in desperate need of attention. I was treated with kindness and good humour by the nurses and support staff. We often hear nightmare stories about what goes on in emergency rooms, so I was grateful that my experience was so positive.

But my care didn’t stop there! I received a call the next morning from the Emergency room doctor to say, on reassessment, I had a hairline fracture in my ankle, that I would need either a cast or air boot and Community Home Care would be coming to dress my wound regularly, twice a week for as long as necessary. The ER doctor told me that I should see my own doctor as soon as possible.

Last week I had a call from my family doctor’s nurse, checking that I was OK. She also made an appointment for me to see them this week.

On Monday the 2nd I was called by the emergency doctor from a week ago checking how I was and asking if I had seen my doctor.

Competent, sensitive physicians like these are a great credit to the medical profession in Lethbridge.

My heartfelt thanks goes out to doctors and nurses that take care of our community in Lethbridge. Barbara Warren
